Unstoppable

In today's modern society the President has become too powerful of a figure. Way more powerful than our founding fathers ever intended him to become. At the time, the U.S. Constitution was written, our newborn country had some "daddy issues", therefore, the founding fathers wanted to ensure the president wouldn't be too powerful as to where the people would become powerless under a dictatorship. They wanted the people in charge, a well long-lasting republic.
The Stewardship theory of presidential power, which is a theory that believes the president can do anything that is demanded of him by his nation as long as it is not forbidden by the Constitution, is a vague loophole that has allowed the president to abuse his power in order to fulfill his personal agenda. I don't fully disagree with the stewardship theory but at times like this (Trump in the house) I believe I would feel more comfortable if we stuck to the Whig theory; It's a theory that states that the president should only execute the laws and not his personal opinions. The Constitution, although well written and effective is, for lack of better words, antiquated.
This means that in our modern day a lot of things aren't prohibited under the Constitution. Trump could be doing many stupid, security-lacking, posts on social media and under the Constitution, he would not be penalized.

Constant State of Uncertainty

Ever since Trump has been in office dreamers have been living in constant fear of being deported back to their home countries. Trump moved to end the DACA program and while not passed he did manage to stop allowing more people from becoming dreamers for a while. I believe this is truly devastating because, in most of these cases, these dreamers have been living in the U.S. for most of their lives. They don't really know their home country, and to be stripped of all they know now would be extremely sad and unjust.
Now, luckily this year (2019) a bill to possibly give permanent status to 2.5 million dreamers has been introduced. The likeliness of this actually being passed are slim but the hope remains, this is also a good example of how Democrats feel about immigration. With a new year and more candidates, I am hopeful that we get a Democratic president and for him or her to be generous and potentially give these dreamers a future they can be certain of and the ability to return to their mother country to learn about their roots and see relatives that aren't able to come see them.

The Rich Can't Catch a Break

On Friday, March 15, 2019, the Crooks and Liars published a post titled It's Hard Out There For A Millionaire, in which they speak about the unfair advantage wealthy people get when they pay for their offspring to be admitted into the top universities and how some of those parents defend themselves with unjustified actions. I believe this post was directed towards all of us who actually did the work and got ourselves into colleges by our own merits. Maybe even intended for some of the parents that thought it was okay to pay your kids way into college that they shouldn't be in so they can see just how foolish and dishonest what they are doing is. The author Steve M. is using satire style of writing to focus on how silly it is that some of these parents think they are doing nothing wrong and that if their child were to be accepted initially they wouldn't have to cheat their way in. Mister M. states, "See? Perfectly fair. The poor, as well as the rich, had every opportunity to shell out six or seven figured to get a kid admitted to a top school." You can sense the mockery in this quote because it is just so unbelievable that some parents really don't see anything wrong with lying completely about what their kid has done to deserve being in a top tier school. I think it is completely disgusting that people have no integrity or honesty and the fact that they're trying to justify their actions is just appalling; I am however not surprised by this since money can do a lot more than just getting your child into a prestigious university, it can also lose evidence in some cases. We should all strive to do better and gain as much knowledge as possible because no one can take that away from you.

Will Trump Be Impeached?

On Thursday, February 28, 2019, the Washington Post published an article titled Michael Cohen's testimony reminds us that Trump's investigations are far from over. This article astonished me, it's crazy for me to think that a President can have so many people declaring against him and a lot of his crimes yet, he remains in office. I believe this article was written not just for liberals but also for conservatives that voted for Trump, the author David Ignatius, a Harvard graduate has given us many reasons as to why the President should no longer remain in office yet we have no "bipartisan consensus". This article clearly states its opinion on the issue, that Trump is a liar and a cheat, in fact, many people have come out in the past declaring that Trump didn't pay them for work they did. It's bewildering to think that news anchors are held to a higher standard of professionalism than our own President. Having Cohen declare against Trump is already extremely controversial, mainly since Cohen is a felon, so the fact that these two were at one point together just brings even more suspicion to Trump, remember, "you are what you hang with".  There's nothing set in stone yet, and it's not looking like he'll be impeached soon, but his trials are "far from over". I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in this case and hope Trump gets what he deserves, personally, I believe we shouldn't have allowed him to get this far in his presidential career. Thank Y'all for reading, enjoy your day.

The President Declares National Emergency

On Friday, February 15, 2019, the Huff Post, posted an article titled Trump Declares National Emergency To Fund U.S.-Mexico Border Wall. As the title states, Trump has declared a national emergency in order to get funds for the wall. Now, this enrages me because he(Trump) is taking money out of other national funds in order to fund his project after Congress only agreed to grant him $1.375 billion instead of the $5.7 billion that he was demanding. Trump has been known to give incorrect information many times in the past and this time is no exception, he stated, "We have far more people trying to get into our country today than probably ever before," which of course is far from the truth, as a matter of fact, the Huff Post says that "illegal border crossings are at their lowest levels since the 1970s." I believe this article is definitely worth the time to read, everyone should be aware of what's happening with our taxpayers' money, this to me seems like Trump is forcefully taking money that wasn't given to him for his projects and it's gross.
